Alaska Salmon Fishing Paradise

Alaska salmon fishing at it's best!  The 155-acre Gulkana River RV Park located at mile 132 Richardson Hwy., 3 miles north of Gakona junction is a fisherman’s paradise, and is in the hub of Alaska’s most popular vacation area.  You’ll enjoy fishing on our 750 feet of Gulkana River shoreline, as well as viewing the variety of  spectacular wildlife.  The Gulkana River system is the spawning grounds for the Copper River King and Sockeye Salmon.

We will be open for guided King Salmon trips from June 1st until July 19th.

This is a picture of our magnificent private fishing park taken from the Richardson Highway.

Just take a look at these beauties!!

The Gulkana River King salmon season runs from June 1st to July 19th, while the Klutina River (20 miles to the south) season is extended until July 31st.  Plan your Alaska salmon fishing vacation early to reserve your spot.

The prime part of the world famous Copper River Sockeye run on the Gulkana River starts roughly at the end of the King Salmon season and continues until the end of August.  Huge runs of these Copper River Sockeye pass by our park and hold up in several holes along our 750 ft. of shoreline.  You can catch them directly from our banks or enjoy a float trip with our experienced and knowledgeable guides.  Only the owners and lifetime permit holders will be allowed on the park after July 20th.

Fishing for all other species is allowed through the summer.

Aside from excellent fishing, the area abounds with wildlife and breathtaking scenery.  A variety of amenities including hotels, B&B’s, restaurants, gas stations and Laundromats are located nearby.

The Gulkana River was designated as wild and scenic in 1980 by the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act.  The abundant wild life along the Gulkana includes bald eagles, moose, caribou, and bear.

Come stay with us and avoid the crowds while you fish for some of the world’s largest king salmon, as well as sockeye, trout, steelhead and grayling. Each season people from all over the lower 48 and many Alaska residents, as well as a number of foreign visitors managed to capture many King Salmon in the 40 to 45 pound range.  This was accomplished  from the banks of the Gulkana River in our park and on our guided fishing trips.  The guided trips leave directly from the boat launch area in our park.  At the end of the trip, you are returned to our park.

King Salmon Guides
Our trips leave from the Gulkana River RV Park located about 3 miles north of the Gakona junction at mile marker 132 on the Richardson Hwy.  The RV Park is private and only the owners, permit holders and guests are allowed in the Park.  Our King Salmon guided fishing trips include 2 nights stay in our Park in a pull through RV space.

The 2007 season was great for king salmon on the Gulkana River.  Many of our guests were able to catch their limit from the private 750 foot shoreline of our RV Park.  Our guided fishing trips include two night in a river front RV space in our park.

Sockeye Salmon
After the King season ends on the 19th of July, only our lifetime permit holders and owners will be allowed in the park.
